Advent Wreath – by Christmas we will “turn on” some surprises
This year we decided to take up a German tradition, the “Advent Wreath“, revisiting it and giving you the possibility to purchase our wines at discounted prices!
What is the Advent Wreath?
The Advent Wreath is a pre-Christmas tradition born in Germany. Typically, it is a garland or a circular decoration with branches of evergreen plants and four candles. The original version dates to the beginning of the nineteenth century and initially included the presence of more candles – bigger ones for Sundays, those for weekdays, instead, were small. However, the version with four candles that we know today became widespread mainly after the Second World War.
What does it symbolize and how does it work?
Each element of the crown has a symbolic character: The circular shape represents unity and eternity. The candles are a symbol of light (joy and love); the evergreen branches instead represent life and hope. During the four Sundays of Advent before Christmas one of the candles is lit every Sunday.
How do we adapt this tradition?
Instead of lighting a candle every Sunday in December, we have decided to activate special discounts on some of our wines valid both at our wine shop and on our e-commerce! After our Ripasso della Valpolicella and Soave Brut which you can find discounted by 15% (offers valid until Christmas), we will “turn on” other surprises on the next two Sundays – especially for the fourth Sunday of Advent we have planned something special!
